Which art suits me?
Very often I hear from customers "I have no idea about art". Along with this, many people think that they themselves are not able to decide which artwork would be right for their home.
But basically, it's with art as it is with wine. With wine, there are three criteria that are basically decisive in determining whether it's a good wine or not, and you don't have to be a wine connoisseur for that. 1. It tastes good or not, 2. It agrees with you or not, and 3. Price/performance ratio fits.
It's not much different with art. 1. You like it or not, 2. It appeals to you or not, and 3. The price fits.
Thus, basically everyone is a wine or art connoisseur if these three points are considered. Here, it's in the eye of the beholder what one exactly wants. If someone, for example, finds an art print in a furniture store for € 100,- beautiful and appealing, then that's exactly right, all three points would be fulfilled. Another person sees the artwork as a financial investment and invests € 100,000,- for an appealing artwork by a renowned artist, here too all three points are fulfilled. As you can see, it doesn't matter, all variants are correct if they are right for you.
Now you can go into more detail and consider whether it's important if an artwork fits the ambiance, because here it's not just about asking yourself "Which art suits me", but also "Which art suits my home". Opinions are divided here, especially when it comes to "high-quality" art (e.g., for a financial investment), this probably shouldn't play a role. But otherwise, I think it should. Basically, a painting or art is a matter of the heart, and in the end, art serves to make us feel comfortable with it. How strange would it be then if one were to choose a painting completely unsuitable for the ambiance?
Ultimately, I can only speak for myself, and since I'm at the source, I occasionally change the paintings at my home. However, it has also happened that I was quite happy with a recently completed work and proudly hung it in a prominent place in my living room at home, only to realize that it didn't fit the ambiance at all. Either the format was inappropriate or the colors or style clashed with the rest of the decor. So I hauled the painting (although I otherwise liked it) back to the studio.
What I want to say is that my home is a complete work of art and my feel-good oasis. Most of you probably won't feel the same way, and therefore, why not choose a work of art that fulfills the three points mentioned above AND fits the ambiance!
To answer the question "What art suits me?" then: Anything that pleases, appeals, and fits the budget!
