A painting for star designer Philip Plein!
A real challenge - but it was worth it!

Today I'm going to tell you about an exciting project that I had the honour of creating for the legendary fashion designer Philipp Plein. When I got the offer to create a personalised work of art for him, I was absolutely thrilled. Philip Plein is known to be not only one of the most successful fashion designers, but also a great lover of artI knew I had to create something special to honour Philipp's personality and life.

The challenge

I knew that I had to embark on a project that was aligned with the height of my creativity. I delved deep into Philipp's history and work to gain a deeper understanding of his oeuvre. From his career as a designer to his favourite places and significant quotes from his interviews, I considered everything.

The artwork

The portrait itself shows Philipp's face with the words ‘DREAM BIG’ in rhinestones, which is a reference to his original fashion brand. The background contains a collage of his personal successes and achievements, including some of his most famous fashion creations. These images symbolise his passion for fashion and his talent as a designer. In the background you can also see some important places that have shaped Philipp's life, as well as photos of his children, his estate in L.A. and much more. I wanted to make sure that every detail in the painting honoured his journey and achievements.

The reaction

Philipp was presented with the painting by TV presenter Matthias Killing at the Entrepreneur of the Year Award ceremony at the Founder Summit 2024 in Wiesbaden. Later, in the backstage area, I had the opportunity to tell Philipp a bit about the painting. He was so happy and thanked me sincerely - I would say he did everything right!

The significance

For me personally, the project was a real feat, as it's a real challenge to portray someone you've only ever known from photos. I tested myself and took my skills to a new level. I am grateful for the opportunity to honour Philipp's personality and work and hope that the artwork continues to bring him joy and that this project encourages other artists! DREAM BIG!
